High costs of commodities in airports has been a problem denounced by the public for years. With regard to this problem, Kunming Changshui International Airport officially launched a price capping system on shops within the airport from July 1.
With the price capping system, consumers no longer have to worry about buying commodities with outrageous prices in the airport anymore.
An official of the airport introduced that the system has been trial implemented for 1 month. Up to now, about 90% shops have installed the price monitor system on their cash registers.
The airport has more than 200 shops now. So far, over 170 shops of them have installed the system, and the left shops will finish installment before September. By then, the system will achieve coverage over all shops in Changshui airport.
According to introduction, the system has achieved automatic and scientific management on commodity transaction. Trading volumes and bargain prices of shops will all be monitored by the system.
No shoddy and commodity which have quality problems are allowed to be sold in the airport.
Moreover, commodities have to be sold within the capped price stipulated by price bureau. Shops that trade with overtopped prices will be fined from 50,000 to 100,000 yuan each time.
Consumers who find any violation can report the situation to related department. Whistleblower will be awarded with 10,000 yuan.
An official figure showed that Kunming Changshui Airport had received 29.69 million passengers in 2013, and is estimated to receive 34.58 million passengers in 2014.
