The natural gas supplied by Myanmar is expected to be transmitted in Yuxi City, Yunnan on August 20. Yuxi will be the first city in China to use natural gas from Myanmar.
"The usage amount of natural gas in Yuxi exceeded 8.8 million cubic meters last year. However, about 80% of the total were used for industrial manufactures in Jiulong Area," introduced by Development and Reform Commission in the city.
Myanmar has been a country with large oil and gas storage in South Asia, sharing a land border line of more than 2,000 kilometers with China.
So far, the China-Myanmar pipelines total 7,676 kilometers, including 6,172 kilometers in China. The pipelines consist of three lines, namely, the line for natural gas, for crude oil and for refined oil. The construction in the section of Yuxi has been completed now.
"Four more vehicle gas filling stations will be built in the central urban Yuxi next year. It is planned to build one station in each county, providing gas for 200 taxis and 50 buses." said Liu Hongjian(刘洪建), chairman of Petro-China Kunlun Gas Co. Ltd. in Yuxi.
The supply amount of natural gas will reach 230 million cubic meters annually in central Yuxi in the future, benefiting life and production. The natural gas supply is expected to mount to 560 million cubic meters in 2030.
