First smoke-free restaurant set up in Kunming

With the help of a tobacco control organization, Geguoxiang restaurant began to carry out non-smoking policy in its restaurant since Tuesday this week.

The tobacco control organization is a non-governmental organization(NGO), normally known as Pioneers For Health Consultancy Center.

Director of the center Li Xiaoliang said that they intend to establish 30 smoke-free restaurants in Kunming. Restaurants which plan to implement non-smoking policy within could take the initiative to contact them and get tobacco control publicity boards from them.

Geguoxiang restaurant, which is situated at New World Mall of Kunming Sinobright group, is the first restaurant that agrees to carry out the policy in Kunming.

Ma Xiaofei, manager of the restaurant said that to implement the non-smoking policy well, any restaurant employee who fails to persuade customers to stop smoking in the restaurant, will be fined 50 yuan as punishment.
