Heavy rain pounds urban Kunming from the night of July 18 to the morning of July 19. Many roads and residential quarters in the urban areas get flooded. You should be careful if you go out in the morning.
The rain-triggered floods cause traffic jams on roads in northern urban areas, such as Huangtupo, Renmin Road, Huancheng Road, Wujing Road, Bailong Road, Qingnian Road, Longquan Road and Beijing Road.
According to the official weibo of the fire department in Yunnan, "it rained last night. You are suggested not to go out if you don’t have to. Please help each other if you or others are trapped into trouble and call at 119 to reporter to the police."
Kunming sees the heaviest rainfall this year from 20 o’clock last night to 8 this morning(July 19). The precipitation in parts of Kunming hits 190.7 mm, according to Yunnan Provincial Meteorological Observatory.
Large-area rainfall is weeping Kunming from last night to this morning, said by Pu Guiming(普贵明), a chief forecaster in the observatory. The northern urban area is hardest hit by the rain in the city. The Jindian Reservoir has recorded the maximum precipitation of 190.7 mm. The precipitation in western areas is fewer.
"It may rain in the coming two days in Kunming. It is predicted to see heavy rain in parts of the city," said Pu. "July and August are rainy months in most areas in the province. People should pay more attention to waterlogging in the cities."(
