Dukezong was Tibetans’ gathering town that was best preserved and at the largest scale in China. Abu House, the oldest building in the town was more than 380 years old. The fire on the morning of January 11, involving 246 families and 343 houses, turned many of the town into ash. It is one week later after the fire now, and the once flourishing town is seen in ruins. When the spring festival approaches, merchants are looking for usable staff and hopes of construction in the remains.
