Yunnan has launched a cooperation mechanism with five provinces in northern Laos to strengthen prevention and control of dengue fever and malaria in border regions between China and Laos, according to a government meeting that was held on August 2 in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna.
“At present, Yunnan and five provinces in northern Laos have achieved a sharing mechanism of the bilateral disease and epidemic information. Yunnan plans to send a panel of experts for exchanging and technical supporting to the five provinces,” said Xu Heping, deputy director of Yunnan provincial bureau of health.
It is said that Yunnan will further promote medicinal personnel training of Laos, planning to train 23 medical personnel of Laos in September this year.
Delegates of Laos said that in the first 5 months, Yunnan has carried out work of disease prevention in 5 provinces of northern Laos. The number of dengue cases has reduced compared with the previous period.
