The first more multi-functional electronic tourism passport of Yunnan Province is to be officially issued in June.
The e-passports, entrusted to be issued by Beijing Yingtong Management and Consulting Co., Ltd, are in fact prepaid chargeable cards whose holders can enjoy discounts offered by tourist sites, hotels and related enterprises joining in the e-passport project.
Currently, some tourist attractions of Dali, Lijiang and Baoshan have joined in this project, offering discount of up to 15%; and it is anticipated more will do so.
An agreement has also been reached between the Yingtong Company and S Korea, under which about S Korea's 200,000 POS sites offer e-passport holders discounts. And, the Yingtong Company plans to extend the project to SE Asia countries such as Thailand and Vietnam.
A fresh way marketing Yunnan tourism
In 2008 when the Beijing Olympic Games was held, Yunnan Provincial Tourism Development and Reform Commission issued the paper version of Yunnan tourism passport, covering about 100 scenic attractions. And at the end of 2011, its relevant electronic version project was launched.
