Mrs Zhang became an Internet hit on August 20 in China.
The address appeared in a letter issued for the first time on Southern Urban Daily, a public newspaper in Gunagdong. It was seemingly a defiant letter from the other woman to her husband’s ex-wife. The letter has triggered controversy once published: is it proper to advocate the interloper of the marriage through the platform of public media? Is the case on the schedule of the planner or is it caused by lax quality control?
The letter with total 53 bytes including the punctuations has covered a full page of the paper. The translated version is as follows:
The former Mrs Zhang,
Just give up.
The result is certain.
Good man belongs to women who cater for him best.
Hope you know it soon and improve yourself (appearance).
Hope there is no cheating in marriages anymore.
Mrs Zhang
By eight o’clock on August 20, Chinese characters "张太"(Mrs Zhang) have ranked in the fifth place of the general research list of sina weibo, a micro-blogging service in China. Wang Xiaoshan, a publisher in China, said it was a good scheme. I’m not sure if it will be an advertisement for real estate or for money management. I’ll wait and see. All in all, it will be a fantastic marketing case.
Zhang Zhian, vice president in a communication faculty in Zhongshan University, commended on the case:
a. It is rough to indicate that a woman can not keep a man unless she looks good.
b. I hope most people laugh it away and don’t go into it seriously.
c. As for the creativity, it is half the battle, but it tarnishes one’s good fame.
d. On the facet of the gender equality, the mistress indicates the discrimination towards women, which should be avoided in news and ads.
The Administrative Bureau for Industry and Commerce in Guangdong Province replied the add on the night of August 20.
"The news issued on August 20 on Southern Urban Daily is a commercial exploitation of some product. It is against the rule of Advertisement Law in China which says the advertisement should not violate the sound social morals. The bureau has talked with the paper. All media in the province should resist similar advertising."
