Ruan Fengbin, vice-mayor of Kunming, Thursday (July 25) in Kunming met with visiting Suriya Prasatbuntitya, the governor of Tak province, Thailand, and members of Tak government trade delegation that aims to promote local products in Kunming.
Ruan said that in recent years, both Kunming and Thailand made rapid progress on tourism, culture, economy and trade. In the first 6 months of 2013, the imports and exports between Kunming and Thailand reached 150 million U.S. dollars, showing a growth of 45 percent.
He hopes that Tak government and enterprises take part in the China-South Asia Expo to further expand cooperation in various fields in the future.
Suriya Prasatbuntitya said Tak, as an important province in Thailand, connecting China and ASEAN, shows obvious location advantage when the Kunming-Bangkok Highway was opened to traffic in 2008. After construction of the upcoming bridge between Chiang Khong and Houay Xay is completed, export commodities of Kunming will be transported to ASEAN countries via Tak province. Chiang Mai and Tak will attract more tourists.
