On August 24, the program for Vietnamese tourists to drive into China for a holiday was officially launched at Hekou.
As a grade I port in China, Yunnan Hekou converges with the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, Kunming-Hekou Highway and Honghe Channel, which are all connected to Vietnam. Therefore Hekou has become the most convenient way to get to Southwest China.
As indicated by Huang Jianfeng, instructor of the Entry & Exit Control Team in Hekou Yao Autonomous County, the people from Vietnam’s Lao Caican holds the Vietnamese Pass for Entry & Exit to apply for the self-drive travel via the tourism authority at Hekou Entry & Exit Administration.
Once the application is approved, the Vietnamese tourist group can enter China through Hekou, but they can only drive around Honghe prefecture. During the travel, Vietnamese tourists will not be able to leave the tourist group without permission, or carry out the activities irrelevant to the travel. Otherwise, the punishment be given accordingly.
In order to ensure the success of the program, the Hekou County Entry & Exit Control Team has offered related trainings to travel agencies in Hekou. Also, Hekou Border Inspection Authority has offered various convenient measures such as “Green Passage” and “Zero Waiting Service” to shorten the self-drive travel group’s customs clearance time.
